New Jersey remembers 100th anniversary of Camp Dix, World War I

Col. Martin F. Klein, deputy commander of JBMDL and commander of Army Support Activity, Fort Dix, joins New Jersey Lieutenant Governor and Secretary of State Kim Guadagno and Air Force Brig. Gen. Michael L. Cunniff, adjutant general of New Jersey, to commemorate the 100th anniversaries of the creation of Camp Dix and America’s entry into World War I during a centennial commemoration April 6 at the Trenton War Memorial in New Jersey. The event was hosted by the New Jersey Historical Commission to honor the contributions of the nearly 140,000 New Jerseyans who served during the First World War, many of whom attended basic combat training at the newly formed Camp Dix.

Army Reserve breaks new ground on JBMDL Army Reserve Center

The U.S. Army Reserve marked another milestone in helping its Soldiers remain a trained and ready part of the Total Force by breaking ground March 18 on a new Army Reserve Center at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, New Jersey. Pictured from left are: Maj. Gen. Troy D. Kok, commanding general of the U.S. Army Reserve’s 99th Regional Support Command; U.S. Representative Tom MacArthur, representing New Jersey’s 3rd Congressional District; Mr. Robert J. Army Reserve command kicks off new readiness improvement program

Sgt. 1st Class Miranda Toussaint, a finance instructor with the U.S. Army Reserve’s 8th Battalion, 98th Regiment, has her blood pressure checked by Lisa Walls, event oversight administrator with Logistics Health Incorporated, during the 99th Regional Support Command’s Soldier Readiness Improvement Event March 4 at the Frank B. Lotts Center in Richmond, Virginia. This event was the first in the 99th RSC’s new Soldier Readiness Improvement Initiative, which offers unit commanders a one-stop shop for personnel and medical readiness that helps make Soldiers mission capable.

Kok was nominated for the school’s hall of fame by his former football and cross-country coach, Doug Hunt, right, who taught at Allentown High School for 39 years.

Army Reserve leader pays tribute to New Jersey veterans

Maj. Gen. Troy D. Kok, commanding general of the U.S. Army Reserve’s 99th Regional Support Command headquartered at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, New Jersey, meets with Jane M. Underkofler, an Air Force first lieutenant who served as a registered nurse, during a Jan. 28 visit to the New Jersey Department of Military and Veterans Affairs’ Veterans Memorial Home in Vineland, New Jersey. The purpose of Kok’s visit was to thank veterans for their service and encourage young Soldiers to spend time with veterans in their local area.

Army Reserve command launches maintenance readiness program

The program gives Army Reserve Soldiers the opportunity to perform maintenance tasks at the 99th RSC’s Area Maintenance Support Activities and Equipment Concentration Sites in order to increase skill proficiency and enhance unit readiness.

Army Reserve command receives third straight energy award

Christine Ploschke, former Energy Branch manager for the Army Reserve’s 99th Regional Support Command (second from left), receives a 2016 Federal Energy and Water Management Award from the Department of Energy during a ceremony Dec. 7 in Washington, D.C. This is the third national energy and water management award the 99th RSC has won in as many years as it continues to support readiness by providing the best possible facilities in which Soldiers can work and train. This latest recognition follows a DoE Federal Energy and Water Management Award Ploschke and her team earned for accomplishments in fiscal year 2015, as well as the Army “Small Group” Energy and Water Management Award they received for FY14.

(NSI) who serves as the director of psychological health for the Army Reserve’s 99th Regional Support Command, assists service members from all branches and components with consultations, referrals, screenings and education on issues such as suicide prevention, substance abuse, domestic violence, financial distress, unemployment, homelessness, crises and anger management, deployment anxiety, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, and casualty assistance.
