Army Reserve leaders collaborate, coordinate, communicate and cooperate to ensure readiness

Soldiers from several Army Reserve public affairs units participate in pre-deployment training during the 99th Regional Support Command’s five-day Staff Exercise Aug. 8-12 at command headquarters on Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, New Jersey. The STAFFEX was designed to integrate the 99th RSC’s full-time military and civilian employees with the command’s Troop Program Unit (TPU) Soldiers in a scenario-driven exercise to test various processes and personnel as they relate to Defense Support of Civil Authorities.

As USARC’s commanding general, Luckey leads a community-based force of more than 200,000 Soldiers and Civilians with a "footprint" that includes 50 states, five territories, and more than 30 countries. The Army Reserve is a critical force provider of trained and ready units and Soldiers providing full spectrum capabilities essential for the Army to fight and win wars and respond to homeland emergencies on behalf of the American people.

This event was part of a two-day visit to the joint base that included a tour of the base’s key mission and training assets as well as a town hall meeting with Soldiers and Army civilians. The driving force behind Dailey's visit was Soldier readiness, which allows the Total Army to continue to answer the nation's calls in an increasingly volatile and uncertain world.

The Army Reserve is utilizing technology to train Soldiers on basic rifleman marksmanship. However, there can be drawbacks to technology – it does not replace the “real thing” that every Soldier needs to experience to completely master marksmanship.

The purpose of the dialogue was to conduct informal and candid discussions with Army Reserve senior leaders on mission readiness challenges, including best practices. Talley, chief of Army Reserve and U.S. Army Reserve Command commanding general, and leaders from the Army Reserve’s 99th RSC, 75th Training Command and 1st Mission Support Command.

Army Reserve command boosts medical readiness throughout 13-state region

Spc. Aleksandr Piovesan of the Army Reserve’s 2nd Battalion, 228th Aviation Regiment receives a mandatory influenza vaccination during the mass medical-readiness event hosted Oct. 17-18 by the Army Reserve’s 99th Regional Support Command at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, N.J., in an effort to increase Soldier readiness throughout the northeastern United States. More than 750 Army Reserve Soldiers from throughout the 99th RSC’s 13-state area of support received mandatory influenza vaccinations and other medical services.
