The 451st Expeditionary Sustainment Command is the newest sustainment command in the Army Reserve.

As the Army Reserve continues to transform to meet the challenges of today’s environment, the 451st ESC embodies the future of the Army Reserve’s command and control of sustainment operations.
The command is designed to deploy into a theater of operations, assume command of the sustainment units in place and provide distribution management, financial management, and human resource management.
As an operational command post of a Theater Sustainment Command – the 451st ESC will plan, coordinate synchronize, monitor, and control operational-level sustainment operations for Army Service Component Commands, Joint Task Forces and Joint Forces Commands.
The 451st has command and control of multiple Army Reserve units throughout the Midwest totaling more than 4,000 Soldiers.

UNIT HISTORY

•  Constituted Jan. 3, 1944 in the Army of the United States as Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 52d Quartermaster Base Depot

•  Activated Jan. 10, 1944 at Camp Lee, Va.

•  Inactivated June 25, 1946 in Belgium· Re-designated April 14, 1947 as Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 451st Quartermaster Base Depot and allotted to the Organized Reserves

•  Activated April 24, 1947 at Indianapolis, Ind.

•  Reorganized and re-designated April 10, 1953 as Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 451st Quartermaster Depot

•  Reorganized and re-designated Jan. 31, 1968 as Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 451st Field Depot

•  Inactivated Aug. 10, 1984 at Indianapolis, Ind.

•  Converted and re-designated Feb. 10, 2009 as Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 451st Sustainment Command (Expeditionary)

•  Activated Sept. 16, 2011 at Wichita, Kan.
