Liquid logisticians rule at QLLEX 2017

QLLEX, short for Quartermaster Liquid Logistics Exercise, is the U.S. Army Reserve’s premier readiness exercise for fuel and water distribution. This year’s QLLEX is not only a full demonstration of the capability, combat-readiness, and lethality of America’s Army Reserve to put fuel and water where it is needed most – in the vehicles and hands of the war-fighter and maneuver units – but it also further exercises the interoperability of the U.S. Army Reserve alongside active Army and British Army logisticians. Army Reserve celebrates 100 years of Camp Dix

Maj. Gen. Troy D. Kok, commanding general for the U.S. Army Reserve’s 99th Regional Support Command, and Command Sgt. Maj. Patrick McKie, Army Support Activity, Fort Dix command sergeant major, cut the cake July 18 during the Dix Centennial celebration at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, New Jersey.  Camp Dix provided key support to the Army and the nation from its inception in 1917 until its re-designation as “Fort Dix” in 1939.  On Oct. 1, 2009, Fort Dix transformed into the United States Army Support Activity, Fort Dix and became part of Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst.  More than 42,000 active-duty and reserve-component service members, civilian employees and family members work and reside on the base.

Logistical support for the wash facility is maintained by the Black Sea Area Support Team. The BSAST oversees and executes all aspects of operational and strategic operations for NSTA and the Mihail Kolgalniceanu Airbase in Romania.

Brig. Gen. Frederick R. Maiocco Jr., 85th Support Command commanding general, relinquished the command colors to Maj. Gen. Tracy A. Thompson, Deputy Commanding General for Support, U.S. Army Reserve. The Army Reserve’s 85th Support Command, partnered with First Army, is made up of 46 Army Reserve battalions, nine brigade support elements, and nearly 4,300 Soldiers and Civilians spanning the continental United States and Puerto Rico. The units generate combat-ready units and Soldiers for the Army that are trained, equipped and lethal to win the nation’s wars.
