Learning and lethal: Army Reserve Soldiers shoot gunnery at Operation Cold Steel III
U.S. Army Reserve Spc. Dakota Walton, a vehicle gunner with the 957th Quartermaster Company based in Denton, Texas, works to remove a M2 .50 caliber machine gun from a pintle mount and perform maintenance during Operation Cold Steel III at Fort Hunter Liggett, Calif. on February 6, 2019. Walton and his crew quickly gained mastery of their weapon system while shooting on a variety of qualification tables over five days. Operation Cold Steel III trains and qualifies Army Reserve Soldiers on M2 .50 caliber machine guns, M19 40 mm automatic grenade launchers and M240 7.62 mm machine guns weapons systems in ground and mounted military vehicles, in order to provide lethal and combat ready units ready to deploy anywhere in the world.
