Command Sgt. Maj. Tully J. Culp

Command Sergeant Major

Command Sergeant Major (CSM) Tully J. Culp enlisted in the United States Army in October 1993, as a member of the Delayed Entry Program.  He reported to Basic Combat Training/Advanced Individual Training in January of 1994 to Fort Sill, Oklahoma as a 13B, Cannon Crewmember.  Upon graduation, CSM Culp reported to his first duty station to Fort Hood, Texas.

CSM Culp served a s Cannon Crewmember with Alpha Battery, 2nd 82nd Field Artillery, Division Artillery, 1st Cavalry Division.  As a member of the Grey Wolf Brigade, Alpha Battery was sought out to be the elite Field Artillery element in most exercises during his service with the Battalion.

After completing his term of Active Duty service, CSM Culp enlisted in the United States Army Reserve as a Chemical Operations Specialist.  He was assigned to the 388th Chemical Company in Bloomington, Illinois where he would attend 54B - Chemical Operations Specialist Course, Primary Leadership Development Course, and 63B – Light Wheeled Vehicle Repairer Course.  He would be promoted to Sergeant (SGT) in December of 1998.

SGT Culp would transfer to the 21st Theater Support Command in June of 2000, as a Battalion Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical (NBC) NCO.  He would deploy for the first time to Kaiserslautern Germany to support the deployment of forces to Iraq under Operation Iraqi Freedom.  SGT Culp would be promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant (SSG) and be transferred to the 3d Battalion, 411th Regiment, 85th Training Division, upon return from deployment in 2003.

While serving with the 3/411th, SSG Culp would support Operation Enduring Freedom as a Senior Mechanic, Operations NCO, and Security Manager while attending all phases of BNCOC, and ANCOC and be promoted to the rank(s) of Sergeant First Class (SFC) in 2006, and Master Sergeant (MSG) in 2008. MSG Culp would deploy in late 2009 as the Senior Enlisted Advisor for the Joint Robotic Repair Detachment, Afghanistan, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.  Upon return from the deployment, MSG Culp would transfer to the 1st Battalion, 330th Regiment as an Operations NCO in 2011.  He would be transferred to Delta Company, 1/330th , in 2013, and assume the position of First Sergeant (1SG). 

1SG Culp was selected for promotion to the rank of Sergeant Major in January of 2014.  He was selected for the Command Sergeant Major for the 378th Military Intelligence Battalion (Battlefield Surveillance Battalion), Ft. Sheridan, IL., and would serve there until the Battalion relocated to Fort Dix, NJ, in late 2015.  CSM Culp was selected for the CSM position of the 337th Military Intelligence Battalion, Fort Sheridan, IL., and would serve there until being selected for the 330th Medical Brigade CSM position in late 2017.  CSM Culp would serve his tenure and elect to deploy in 2020, with the 310th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary), as the Support Operations (SPO) Sergeant Major.

CSM Culp holds a Bachelors Degree in Science, Human Resources Management in 2012, and a Masters Degree in Business Administration, Project Management in 2014.  His awards feature the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (4th Award), Army Commendation Medal (7th Award), Army Achievement Medal (5th Award), Military Outstanding Volunteer Award, and the Schutzenschnur, Gold for Marksmanship.

CSM Culp resides in Danville, Indiana with his spouse and children.
