BG Mark W. Siekman currently serves as the Commanding General of the 9th Mission Support Command with headquarters at Fort Shafter, Hawaii. He is a native of Kentucky, was commissioned in the Infantry Corps after graduating from Ball State University in 1995 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science. He also holds a Masters in Strategic Studies from the Air War College.
BG Siekman has served in a multitude of combat and logistical units, across all echelons over his 23 years of service. His previous assignments include Director of General Officer Management / Senior Leader Development Offices, Office of the Chief of Army Reserve at the Pentagon, Washington DC; Chief, Reserve Officer Schools, United States Human Resources Command, Fort Knox, Kentucky; Inspector general, 9th Mission Support Command, Fort Shafter, Hawaii; Plans Officer, 310th Expeditionary Sustainment Command, Commander, Regional Training Site-Maintenance, Fort McCoy, Wisconsin; Army Reserve Forces Manager, United States Army Europe and 7th Army, Heidelberg, Germany; Plans Officer, 84th United States Army Reserve Readiness Training Center, Fort McCoy, Wisconsin; Operations Officer, 143rd Transportation Command (FWD), Camp Arifjan, Kuwait; Project Manager, Army Reserve Readiness Training Center, Fort McCoy, Wisconsin; Operations Officer, Joint Task Force Chontales, Chontales, Nicaragua; various positions within the 125th Forward Support Battalion at Fort Riley, Kansas; and Rifle Platoon Leader, 1-41 Infantry Battalion, Fort Riley, Kansas.
BG Siekman has deployed four different times in his career including Kuwait, Iraq, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Central America. In his last deployment to Iraq in 2011, his unit was responsible for the retrograde of all U.S. personnel and equipment from the country of Iraq. His awards include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (with 5 oak leaf clusters), Army Commendation Medal (with 1 oak leaf cluster), Army Achievement Medal (with 1 oak leaf cluster), Expert Infantryman Badge, Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge, and the Army Staff Identification Badge.
BG Siekman and his wife, Christie, have been married more than 25 years and they have four children: Tyler, Jacob, Ella and Lily.
