PHOTO GALLERY: 87th Training Division activation ceremony

An activation ceremony for the 87th Training Division took place in Hoover, Alabama, on Nov. 13, 2021. Brig. Gen. Todd M. Lazaroski will serve as commanding general of the newly re-established division, which falls under the 84th Training Command.

The 87th Training Division designs, develops and executes a multicomponent Combat Support Training Program and designates training exercises to enhance U.S. Army Reserve readiness and lethality.

The division's history with the U.S. Army Reserve dates back to 1921 when it was in the Organized Reserves. Constituted in August 1917, the 87th Infantry Division fought in Gen. George S. Patton’s Third U.S. Army during World War II and participated in several conflicts, including the Battle of the Bulge.
