Army Reserve Ambassador William “Shane” Lee retired from the Army Reserve as a Major General after honorably serving for 35 years.  His military service began in the Alabama National Guard as a second lieutenant serving in the Medical Service Corps. Following his medical board certification, he transferred to the Army Medical Corps as a physician and into the Army Reserve.  His final military assignment was serving as the commanding general of the 3d Medical Command, Deployment Support, with the division headquartered in Atlanta, GA and over 7600 deployable military personnel serving in almost 100 units.  He also served in several other key command and staff positions and deployed three times.   In his civilian capacity, he is currently serving as the medical director at four different facilities as well as maintaining his position as an Adjunct Professor of Rural Medicine with the University of Alabama-Birmingham (UAB) School of Medicine.  Ambassador Lee is also affiliated with several civilian and military service organizations and is well connected within the great state of Alabama.
