Major General Daniel York

Commanding General

76th USAR Operational Response Command

Major General Daniel L. York currently serves as commander of the 76th United States Army Reserve Operational Response Command, Salt Lake City, Utah. He graduated from the United States Military Academy, West Point where he received a Bachelor of Science in Engineering and was commissioned as an Infantry Officer in 1981. Upon receiving his commission as a Second Lieutenant, he served on active duty as an Infantry Platoon Leader, General's Aide de Camp and Company Commander for Delta Company, 3/502, all within the 101st (Air Assault) Division at Fort Campbell, KY. As a Company Commander, he deployed with his unit as part of the 3/502nd Task Force with the Multinational Force and Observers in the Sinai. Upon leaving the 101st Division.

Major General York joined the Army Reserves with the following assignments: 1st PSYOP Company in San Diego, CA; Operations Officer (IMA) for SOCPAC; Commander of HHC, 364th Civil Affairs Brigade located in Portland, OR. In June of 1999, he joined the 104th Training Division (Institutional Training), where he served as the 3rd Brigade S3, Battalion Commander of the 1/414th, 1st Brigade, Assistant G3, G1, G3, 3rd Brigade Commander, Assistant Division Commander-Support, and Commanding General. He was then appointed for a second Division Command with the 86th Training Division (Operations) located at Fort McCoy, Wisconsin from June of 2011 to July of 2012.

Maj. Gen. York's awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal with four oak leaf clusters, Army Commendation Medal with two oak leaf clusters, Army Achievement Medal with one oak leaf cluster, Ranger Tab, Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge, Jungle Expert Badge, Rappel Master and Expert Infantryman Badge.



Maj. Gen. York's military education includes the Infantry Officers Basic and Advanced Course, Company/Battalion/Brigade Pre-Command Courses, the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College and the U.S. Army War College where he served as Seminar Group Chairman. He is a CAPSTONE graduate and has a Masters of Divinity from Bethel (West) Seminary and a Master of Strategic Studies degree from the U.S. Army War College.

Maj. Gen. York is married to the former Kathleen Hardy and they have three children, Bryan, Sarah and Stephen, and one grandson, Jadon Ruel Tegtmeier. He is the Director of First Cause, an International Leadership Development non-profit he created in 2000, active in 4 countries. He started and pastored three churches, consults and speaks both nationally and internationally on leadership and related topics. He is a published author of four books; in addition to performing in concerts. He has recorded seven albums of original music.
