Command Sgt. Maj. Shahpour Eskandary

Command Sergeant Major, 7th Mission Support Command

CSM Eskandary was born in Cheverly, MD. and entered the Army in March 1989 attending One Station Unit Training as a 19D Cavalry Scout at Ft. Knox, KY. He has served in a variety of positions in increasing responsibility in both the active and reserve components. CSM Eskandary was appointed as the Command Sergeant Major of the 7th Mission Support Command in March 2024.

CSM Eskandary’s military education includes all levels of Noncommissioned Officers Education System, culminating with the Nominative Leader Course and the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy. He is also a graduate of Force Integration Course for Senior Leaders; completion of the USASMA Distributed Learning Course VI; Structured Self Development Level V; Senior Enlisted Joint Professional Military Education I & II; BDE Pre-Command/Command Sergeants Major Course; BN/BDE Pre-Command Course; USASMA Structured Self Development Level IV; Defense Training Management Course; Certified Information System Security Professional Course; First Sergeant Course; Operations Security Program Manager/Officer Level II Course; Conventional Physical Security Course; Physical Security Basic Course; Anti-terrorism Basic Course; Master Fitness Course; Military Police School; Drill Sergeant School; and the Cavalry Scout Course (Bradley Fighting Vehicle)

During his career CSM Eskandary has earned numerous awards and recognition during his 28 years of service. He has been recognized as Drill Sergeant of the Year for 80th Division (2007) (continuing to compete at TRADOC level Drill Sergeant of the Year) and Drill Sergeant of the Cycle for D Company 3/10th Infantry (2005). His awards include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (4th

Award), Army Commendation Medal (7th Award), Army Achievement Medal (5th Award), Army Good Conduct Medal, Army Reserve Component Medal (8th award), National Defense Service Medal (2nd Award), Southwest Asia service Medal (3 Bronze Stars), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal (with Twenty Year Device and “M” Device), Non Commissioned Officer Professional Development (with Numeral 5), Kuwait Liberation Medal – Government of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait Liberation Medal – Kuwait, and Drill Sergeant Badge. He is a recipient of the Army Superior Unit Award. His foreign award is the German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge (Silver)

(Short version: CSM Eskandary has 41 individual awards, 1 unit award; the Army Superior Unit Award. His badges include; 3rd Armored former Wartime Service FWTS Badge, Drill Sergeant Badge. In 2007, he was selected as the 80th Division Drill Sergeant of the Year. He is a recipient of the Lifetime 3rd Armored Division Spearheader Certificate and the Armor Associations Order of St. George (Bronze).

 

CSM Eskandary’s civilian education includes completion of Lean Six Sigma, Green Six Sigma, and Six Sigma Black Belt, Villanova University, Villanova, Pennsylvania; Bachelors of Science Degree in Technical Management from DeVry University (Summa Cum Laude), Arlington, Virginia; an Associate’s of Arts Degree from Northern Virginia Community College Annandale, Virginia; and graduating from Frankfurt American High School in Frankfurt, Germany.

He currently works for Federal Emergency Management Agency as a Senior Physical Security Specialist. He is a licensed travel soccer coach, and coaches for Premier AC in Falls Church, VA.

CSM Eskandary also volunteers or has volunteered for multiple organizations to include; President of Northern Virginia Soccer League, youth soccer coach (travel and non-travel), PTA and other school programs.
