Brigadier General Matthew S. Warne

Commanding General, 102d Training Division (MS) / Deputy Commanding General - Mobilization and Training, Maneuver Support Center of Excellence

Brigadier General Warne assumed command of the 102d Training Division (Manuever Support) August 13, 2022.

Prior to this assignment, Brigadier General Warne served as the Deputy Chief of Staff, Operations Officer for the 416th Theater Engineer Command, Darien, IL. He graduated as a Distinguished Military Graduate of the Drexel University ROTC program, where he earned a B.S. in Civil Engineering. Brigadier General Warne was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army in July 1992. Upon graduation from the Engineer Officer Basic Course and U.S. Army Ranger School, he served on active duty with the 1st IN DIV, Fort Riley, KS. Brigadier General Warne attended military schooling at the Engineer Officer Advance Course, Combined Arms Services Staff School, Command General and Staff College, and the United States Army War College.

Brigadier General Warne held several staff positions in the 854th Engineer Battalion, the 411th Engineer Brigade and the 412th Theater Engineer Command. His command assignments include Bravo Company in Orangeburg, New York, the 854 Engineer Battalion, in Kingston, New York and the 411th Engineer Brigade, in New Windsor, New York. Brigadier General Warne also served in the 75th Training Command, Atlantic Division as a Branch Chief, in Fort Dix, New Jersey and as the Plans Officer for the 412th Theater Engineer Command, Vicksburg, Mississippi.

Brigadier General Warne has deployed numerous times in support of contingency operations and the Global War on Terrorism. He deployed as an Engineer Platoon Leader with the 568th Engineer Company (CSE) in support of OPERATION UPHOLD DEMOCRACY, Haiti in 1996. He later deployed in 2004 in support of OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM, Balad, Iraq as a Civil Engineer and Battalion Operations Officer, with the 512th Engineer Battalion (Ohio National Guard). Brigadier General Warne’s most recently deployed in 2012 in support of OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM, Bagram, Afghanistan as the Brigade Operations Officer, with the 411th Engineer Brigade.

Brigadier General Warne’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal (1 Oak Leaf Cluster), the Meritorious Service Medal (with Silver Oak Leaf Cluster), the Army Commendation Medal (1 Oak Leaf Cluster), the Army Achievement Medal (3 Oak Leaf Clusters), the Combat Action Badge, the Ranger Tab, the Airborne Badge, the Meritorious Unit Citation, and the Engineer Association Bronze de Fleury Medal.

As a Citizen-Soldier, Brigadier General Warne is employed by New York City, Department of Environmental Protection, Bureau of Water Supply, working in the Water Treatment Operations Directorate as the Quality Assurance Manager.

He is married and they have three wonderful grown children.
