NEW YORK - Sikh-American 1st Lt. Amarjeet Singh, assigned to the Army's Brooklyn South Recruiting Center, attended the May 11, 2024, "Turban Day" event held in Manhattan's Times Square. Singh said one of his concerns when he was considering an Army career was whether he could keep his beard and turban. The lieutenant said he was relieved to learn the Army supports observant Sikhs serving in uniform. "It was great news for me," Singh said. (U.S. Army photo by Sgt. 1st Class Neil W. McCabe)
