MUSCATATUCK URBAN TRAINING CENTER, Ind. - Spc. Brant Franks and Spc. Nicholas Rivera, engineers assigned to the 526th Engineer Construction Company based out of Fort Stewart, Ga., prepare to use a hydraulic spreader, often called the jaws of life, to help remove an injured girl trapped under farming equipment May 9, 2022, at the Muscatatuck Urban Training Center, Ind. Franks and Rivera are participating in a multicomponent homeland emergency exercise named Guardian Response 22. The exercise, hosted at the Muscatatuck Urban Training Area, Ind., is designed to boost capabilities, hone their skills at urban search and rescue, and improve readiness of the Army units assigned to the Department of Defense’s Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Response Enterprise.
