PORT OF GALVESTON, Texas - While anchored at the Port of Galveston, Texas, U.S. Coast Guard Academy 1st Class Cadet Kayla K. Yoshioka-Montalvo points out the primary parts of the top deck of the U.S. Coast Guard Barque Eagle as she leads tour group comprising eight U.S. Army Reserve Soldiers June 11, 2022. The Soldiers explored every major facet of the U.S. military's only active duty sailing vessel from the poop deck to the captain’s cabin. The tour also offered opportunities for the Soldiers and Coastguardsmen to learn more about their respective missions and capabilities on land, air and – of course – sea. Yoshioka-Montalvo is one of dozens of U.S. Coast Guard Academy cadets aboard the Eagle. She and her crew spend the summer months acquiring first hand experience on how to operate a sailing vessel (U.S. Army Photo by Staff Sgt. John L. Carkeet IV, 75th Innovation Command).
