Command Chief Warrant Officer, 85th U.S. Army Reserve Support Command


Chief Warrant Officer Five (CW5) John Brasfield enlisted in the United States Army in July 1987. He received his Basic Training at Ft. Knox, Kentucky and his Advanced Individual Training at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana.

CW5 Brasfield has held a variety of assignments in multiple components to include: Legal Specialist, 113th JAG Detachment, Wichita, Kansas (USAR); Cavalry Scout, HHC, 2/7th Infantry, 24th Infantry Division, Ft. Stewart, Georgia (AC); OH-58 Scout Pilot, C Company, 1st Infantry Division, Ft. Riley, Kansas (AC); C-12/RC-12 Pilot, HHS, 1st Military Intelligence Battalion, Wiesbaden, Germany (AC); UH-1 Pilot, D Company, 1/114th AVN, Salina, Kansas (KSARNG); Deputy S-4, 69th Troop Command, Wichita, Kansas (KSARNG); Senior Legal Administrator, OSJA, 89th RRC, Wichita, Kansas (USAR); Senior Legal Administrator, HQ, 8th LSO, Independence, MO (USAR); Force Manager, Legal Command, Gaithersburg, MD (USAR); Command Chief Warrant Officer, Legal Command, Gaithersburg, MD (USAR); Command Chief Warrant Officer, 9th Mission Support Command, Honolulu, HI (USAR) Command Chief Warrant Officer, 88th Readiness Division, Ft. McCoy, WI (USAR); and most recently a second tour as Command Chief Warrant Officer, 9th Mission Support Command, Honolulu, HI (USAR). During these assignments, CW5 Brasfield completed two combat tours, five imminent danger tours, and a mobilization to support Coronavirus operations.

CW5 Brasfield is a graduate of the Warrant Officer Senior Staff Course, Army Force Management Course, Fixed Wing Multi-Engine Qualification Course, Initial Entry Rotary Wing Course, and multiple other qualification and military professional development courses. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Public Administration from Upper Iowa University and a Masters of Business Administration from Southwestern College.
