Command Sgt. Maj. Edward Roderiques, Jr. originally hails from Fairhaven, Massachusetts and enlisted into the Army Reserve in 1983 in MOS 62B, heavy equipment repairer, and served in the 483rd Engineer Battalion.

In 1991 he transferred to the 76th Training Division (IET) where he reclassified to MOS 11C and served as a Drill Sergeant until 1996. He then entered the Regular Army in 1996 and reclassified to MOS 11B beginning his active duty career in the 2nd Battalion, 325th Airborne Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division, Ft. Bragg, N.C. where he served as an infantryman serving in the positions of SAW Gunner through Weapons Squad Leader.

He re-joined the Army Reserve in August 2001 and was assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division Detachment (USAR). After the events of 9/11 his detachment was mobilized and he was again assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division as an Operations Sergeant in the Division G-3 and as the Division Assault Command Post Platoon Sergeant. In December 2002 he deployed to Operation Enduring Freedom 2/3 with Coalition Task Force 82 serving as the C-3 Senior Battle NCO and DTAC NCOIC, Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan.

Shortly after redeployment he resumed his active duty career in the Active Guard Reserve (AGR) with the U.S. Army Reserve. His assignments included:  Senior Mobilization Sergeant, 94th RRC, Ft. Devens, MA; First Sergeant, U.S. Army NCO Academy, Ft. Lewis, WA; Brigade Operations Sergeant, 301st Maneuver Enhancement Brigade, Ft. Lewis, WA; Operations Sergeant, G-37 Individual Training Division, U.S. Army Reserve Command, Ft. McPherson, GA; Student, U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy Class 62, Ft. Bliss, TX; Operations Sergeant Major, 100th BN, 442d Infantry Regiment, Ft. Shafter Flats, HI; Senior Enlisted Advisor, Deputy Commanding General-USAR, US Army Training and Doctrine Command, Joint Base Langley-Eustis, VA; Deputy Commandant, US Army Drill Sergeant Academy, Ft. Jackson, SC and is currently assigned as the command sergeant major of the 83rd US Army Reserve Readiness Training Center (83rd USARRTC), Ft. Knox, KY.  

Roderiques’ educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth, a certificate in Electrical Technology from Fayetteville Technical Community College, and a Masters of Business Administration in Strategic Leadership, Trident University International. He has completed all levels of NCOPME through the Sergeants Major Course (Class 62), Battle Staff NCO Course and First Sergeants Course.

He is a graduate of the Jumpmaster Course, the Master Driver Course, the Joint Firepower Course, and the U.S. Army Drill Sergeant School.   His awards include the bronze star medal, meritorious service medal (5 OLC), ARCOM (7 OLC), AAM (3 OLC), GWOT Expeditionary Medal, GWOT Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal with 4 knots, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal with 5 OLC, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with ‘M’ device and silver hour glass, expert infantryman’s badge, drill sergeant identification badge and the master parachutist badge.  

Roderiques resides at Ft. Knox, KY with his wife of 24 years, the former Ana Medeiros.
