Chap. (Maj.) Timothy Elliott, Strong Bonds program manager for the U.S. Army Reserve’s 99th Regional Support Command at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, New Jersey, addresses couples during a 99th Regional Support Command Strong Bonds event Jan. 27-29 in Baltimore, Maryland.  Strong Bonds is a unit-based, chaplain-led program which assists commanders in building individual resiliency by strengthening the Army Family. The core mission of the Strong Bonds program is to increase individual Soldier and Family member readiness through relationship education and skills training.

Capt. Carlos Alexander, a general dentist assigned to Army Reserve Medical Command’s 7240th Medical Support Unit out of Kirksville, Missouri, is one of approximately 25 U.S. Army Reserve Soldiers who are working in partnership with Pine Ridge Indian Health Service to provide medical care to the local tribal population. The Indian Health Service provides preventive, curative, and community health care for approximately 2.2 million American Indians and Alaska Natives in hospitals, clinics, and other settings throughout the United States.

The orientation gave battalion command teams and Brigade Support Element staffs assigned to 85th Support Command, but operationally controlled by First Army, a better understanding of the practices and procedures that make up the hybrid relationship between First Army and the 85th SPT CMD.

Maiocco Jr., Commanding General, 85th Support Command, explains during a New Command Teams Orientation brief on May 20, 2017 in Arlington Heights, Ill. why it is so important to understand the unique partnership between the 85th SPT CMD and First Army. He shared that First Army is an “executive agent for training and training validation” in the Army. And the 85th Support Command is embedded as an operationally controlled element of First Army, and it is critical that we are synchronized to support that mission.

Army Reserve leader honors newest military enlistees

Maj. Gen. Troy D. Kok, commanding general of the U.S. Army Reserve’s 99th Regional Support Command (left), and Larance Kirby, executive director for the Delaware Commission of Veterans Affairs (right), recognize Raelyn Blevins, high-school student and future member of the Delaware Air National Guard, during the sixth-annual Our Community Salutes recognition ceremony May 16 at the Cavaliers County Club in Newark, Delaware.  Kok and Kirby joined Wilmington University and the Delaware Chapter, Association of the United States Army in honoring more than 100 high-school students who have volunteered to enlist in all branches of the U.S. military following graduation.
