U.S. Army Reserve Criminal Investigation Division Special Agents participate in their annual training ‘Guardian Shield’ during May, 2023, at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, N.J. CID is made up of professional, federal law enforcement officers who investigate felony crimes. CID Special Agents are commonly in suits and plain clothes as they conduct their investigations. Military Police officers are uniformed officers who may perform traffic duties on base, law and order policing, or detainee and detention operations abroad. Annual trainings like GS23 are essential to mission success not only for classroom and weapons qualifications, but also for agents to network and leverage experience from multiple law enforcement backgrounds.

Policing up for readiness

More than a hundred leaders and senior staff members from various military police battalions and brigades joined the 200th Military Police Command headquarters leadership and senior staff for a four-day workshop and Yearly Training Brief conference held in Columbus, Ohio, on April 2. ARAP is a Web-based initiative that provides battalion-level commanders with data on their formation's readiness posture through five segments: Process Auditing - Assesses the processes used to identify hazards and correct problems Reward Systems - Assesses the unit's program of rewards and discipline to reinforce proper behavior and correct risky actions Quality Control - Places emphasis on high standards of performance Risk Management - Assesses the health of unit processes Command and Control - Assesses leadership, communication, and policies as they relate to Composite Risk Management (CRM) Designed for use by battalion-sized units, the program asks several questions of battalion commanders.
