351st Civil Affairs Command

Brigadier General Barriage was commissioned in 1982 as an Armor Officer through the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps.  Upon accession onto active duty 1984, he was branched Quartermaster Branch.  His civilian education includes a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Nevada Reno and a Master of Science degree in Counseling from Long Island University.  His military education includes Quartermaster Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, U.S. Army Combined Arms Services Staff School Course, U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, Civil Affairs Officer Advance Course, Advanced Joint Professional Military Education, and the Army War College where he earned a Masters degree in Strategic Studies.
 
Brigadier General Barriage’s assignments on active duty included Platoon Leader, Commander, and Battalion Staff Officer at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.  Following attendance at the Advance Course, he then served as a Division Staff Officer in the 2d Infantry Division, Republic of Korea.  Upon return to the United States, he participated in the Army Training with Industry Program in Brooklyn, New York.  His next assignment was as Branch Chief on the Staff & Faculty of the United States Military Academy, West Point, New York.  Brigadier General Barriage’s last active duty assignment was at the National Training Center at Fort Irwin, California where he served as Division Chief in the G3. 
 
In 1996, Brigadier General Barriage transferred to the Army Reserve and the 353d Civil Affairs Command.  During his assignments with the 353d, he has held staff positions serving as the G4, G3, and Chief of Staff.  Brigadier General Barriage has mobilized three times since joining the Army Reserve.  In 1997, he deployed for Operation JOINT GUARD as Deputy J4, Combined Joint Civil-Military Task Force, Bosnia-Herzegovina. He served as Deputy Brigade Commander for Operation IRAQI FREEDOM, Baghdad, Iraq from 2004-2005 and mobilized for Operation ENDURING FREEDOM in 2007 to serve as the Deputy Commander, 353d Civil Affairs Command, Staten Island, New York.
 
In January 2010, Brigadier General Barriage assumed command of the 304th Civil Affairs Brigade, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  Upon completion of command in June 2011, he was assigned Chief, Civil Liaison Team, 353d Civil Affairs Command.  Brigadier General Barriage assumed Command of Southern Training Division, 75th Training Command located in Houston, Texas in June 2012.  His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal with silver oak leaf cluster, the Joint Service Commendation Medal with oak leaf cluster, the Army Commendation Medal with four oak leaf clusters, and the Army Achievement Medal.  He has earned the Combat Action Badge, Master Parachutist Badge, the Parachute Rigger Badge, and the German Armed Forces Efficiency Badge.       
 
Brigadier General Barriage is married to the former Teresa Rice of Bronx, New York.  They have two sons: William and Ben.  His civilian employment is as a Logistics Management Specialist at West Point Military Reservation.
