Community Gathers to Celebrate Former President James A. Garfield

CLEVELAND (November 19, 2016) – The caskets of James A. Garfield, left, and his wife Lucretia  are in the crypt of the Garfield Memorial at Lake View Cemetery in Cleveland. The caskets are closed off to the public, but can be viewed through the gates that surround them.

U.S. Army Reserve assists sheriff's office after Hurricane Matthew

The Lenoir County Sheriff’s office is using an underutilized U.S. Army Reserve Center in Kinston, N.C., after Hurricane Matthew flooded the courthouse basement in early October. The sheriff’s office reached out to the 81st Regional Support Command who owned the center at the Kinston airport. Through the National Defense Authorization Act of 2012, U.S. Army Reserve Defense Support of Civil Authorities and Stafford Act (Disaster and Emergency Act), the sheriff’s office was able to use the facility to continue to serve the citizens of Lenoir County.
