Command Sgt. Maj. Jon Zimmerman, the incoming command sergeant major, passes the U.S. Army Reserve’s 99th Readiness Division colors to 1st Sgt. Earl Morgan, the 99th Readiness Division Headquarters and Headquarters Company first sergeant, during a change of responsibility ceremony Sept. 7, 2019. The change of responsibility is a transition that is rich with symbolism and heritage, and serves the dual function of recognizing the enlisted service of the departing command sergeant major, and providing official recognition of the change of responsibility as senior noncommissioned officer to the incoming command sergeant major.
