Nigerien workers build a mobile field hospital financed by the U.S. Africa Command through the Overseas Humanitarian, Disaster Assistance, and Civic Aid program in Agadez, Niger, March 22, 2022. U.S. subject matter experts taught Nigerien workers how to construct, maintain, de-construct, and move the mobile hospital. The $1.6 million, 4,592 square-foot mobile field hospital increases Agadez Regional Hospital’s capacity by an additional 30 beds, complete with the medical tools and resources to care for the 670,000-person community and surrounding areas. U.S. Army Sgt. Connor Dowd and Sgt. 1st Class Gregory Reid with C Company, 1-102nd Infantry Regiment (Mountain), Task Force Iron Gray, Combined Joint Task Force – Horn of Africa (CJTF-HOA), high-five students during a cultural engagement at a school in Lamu County, Kenya, Nov. 2, 2021. CJTF-HOA’s efforts, as part of a comprehensive whole-of-government approach, are aimed at increasing African partner nations’ capacity to maintain a stable environment, with an effective government that provides a degree of economic and social advancement to its citizens.
