Tactical Combat Casualty Care for Military Working Dogs

Soldiers with the 147th Med. Det. (Vet. Srvc.) provided training in Tactical Combat Casualty Care, basic triage and advanced treatment and stabilization of Military Working Dogs for Soldiers and Airmen from the 914th Aeromedical Staging Squadron, 691st Forward Resuscitative Surgical Detachment (FRSD) and 1982nd FRSD during a Joint Training Exercise at the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station.

Field Veterinary Service Officers (64A) provided multiple didactic classes, classroom training on comparative medicine, hands-on laboratory exercise and advanced medical training on the treatment of Military Working Dogs in a theater of operations to medical providers who are preparing for mobilization.

In addition, aeromedical evacuation of Military Working Dogs was trained on utilizing Chinook aircraft. This joint Reserve training provides Service members who may be called upon to provide frontline care during deployment familiarity and skills to successful complete this medical mission.
