Timothy Stanton and CW4 Court Marshall, from the Army Reserve Headquarters-Fort Bragg (ARHQ-FB) Integrated Personnel and Pay System-Army (IPPS-A) team, presented an IPPS-A overview at the 76th Operation Response Command’s (ORC) Human Resources Workshop in Las Vegas, Sept. 26, 2019.

The HR workshop was held at the U.S. Armed Forces Reserve Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, from Sept. 24-26, 2019.  The purpose was to train Human Resources Personnel assigned to all units of the 76th ORC on the Army Reserves Human Resources systems in preparation for the release of IPPS-a to the U.S. Army Reserve.  The ARHQ-FB team frequently travel to the Geographical and Functional Commands to brief G1 and S1 staff members on the future functionality of IPPS-A.

To date IPPS-A has been fielded in nine states for the National Guard.  The system has showed much promise in modernizing Army Human Resources Operations as personnel and pay transactions have been over 90 percent successful in the states that have already gone live.  Seven more states are scheduled to start using IPPS-A this month, which proves the system’s worth to the Army.    

Gen. James McConville, the Army’s Chief of Staff, said recently that “We’re doing some incredible things on modernization. … It’s no longer an industrial-age system and we’re going to aggressively pursue new technologies to give us an edge on the battlefield…When you go on active-duty, we mess up your records. We mess up your pay. And we’ve got to fix that.”

IPPS-A is part of that modernization process.  The IPPS-A team at Fort Bragg is working diligently to get the Reserves seamlessly integrated into this new system.  Through critical design review, and daily data analysis, the IPPS-A team is working with Human Resources Personnel at the Geographical and Functional Commands to correct data issues within the various legacy HR systems.  Training venues, such as the workshop held by the 76th ORC, is where the rubber meets the road to modernize Army Human Resources capabilities.
