As the Executive Officer (XO) for the US Army Reserve's 373rd Combat Support Sustainment Battalion in Beaumont, TX, his responsibilities require a little more than the traditional 'one weekend a month and two weeks a year.’ In this role, he must exercise command in the battalion commander's absence and serve as the senior member of the battalion's staff, but he is okay with that. Harlingen based Army Reserve unit welcomes new command team
August 19, 2021 — Army Reserve Soldiers of the 319th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion (CSSB) gathered Sunday to conduct a change of command ceremony at the Naval Operational Support Center Harlingen. The 319th CSSB welcomed Lt. Col. Beatriz Florez as the new commander and Sgt. Maj. Ramiro Barajas Jr. as the incoming interim command sergeant major in the time-honored ceremony. Florez, a native of McAllen, Texas, served combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan and is a Bronze Star Medal recipient. Army Reserve Couple Supports COVID-19 Federal Response
July 16, 2021 — The primary mission of the 4th Expeditionary Sustainment Command is to provide logistical support to combat units in a deployed environment. However, the command headquarters mobilized for a unique, state-side mission in 2020. Soldiers from the 4th ESC mobilized in March 2020 to provide logistical support to military medical service providers and aid in the federal response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Among the mobilized 4th ESC Soldiers who supported this special mission was Capt. Paul Nitzsche. Paul is a mobility logistics officer. He mobilized with the 4th ESC’s Support Operation Section, where he planned, coordinated, tracked, and executed movements for medical personal supporting hospitals and community vaccination centers across the nation. His wife, Capt. Holli Nitzsche, also mobilized to support the federal response to COVID-19. She served as a Clinical Operations Nurse with the Joint Force Land Component Command Office of the Surgeon (JFLCC Surgeon)... MORE
