Army Reserve officers march 50 miles to honor Teddy Roosevelt, JFK for Presidents Day
Army Reserve officers Lt. Col. Shane Cater and Maj. Kyle "Dutch" Dietrich, both deployed to Camp Arifjan, Kuwait with the 310th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary), hiked 50 miles in 15 hours and six minutes around the camp Feb. 14, 2021 and Feb. 15, 2021 as a Presidents Day tribute to Theodore Roosevelt and John F. Kennedy. In 1908, Roosevelt directed all Marine lieutenants and captains to complete 50 miles on foot in under than 20 hours in less than three days. In 1963, Kennedy challenged his current Marines and all Americans to take up the 50-mile challenge.
