Soldiers of the Army Reserve’s 99th Regional Support Command practice rifle marksmanship using the Engagement Skills Trainer, a virtual rifle range that allows Soldiers to practice shooting in a video game-style environment without expending actual rounds.

Training the next generation of Soldiers who grew up playing sophisticated and realistic combat video games can be a challenge. The Army Reserve is utilizing technology to train Soldiers on basic rifleman marksmanship. However, there can be drawbacks to technology – it does not replace the “real thing” that every Soldier needs to experience to completely master marksmanship.

Combat Engineers compete knot tie event at Sapper Stakes 2016.

A hundred-sixty-two Combat Engineers from all over the country are at Ft. Drum, New York to face off in Sapper States. The three day competition pits Soldiers from U.S. Army, U.S. Army Reserve, and Army National Guard in events that measure their physical endurance, mental toughness and combat engineer skills.

JOLON, Calif. – Fire fighting Soldiers with the 614th Engineer Detachment attack a helicopter-fuselage fire during a multi-unit mass casualty exercise at Fort Hunter Liggett’s Tusi Airfield, May 9.
