Training the next generation of Soldiers who grew up playing sophisticated and realistic combat video games can be a challenge. The Army Reserve is utilizing technology to train Soldiers on basic rifleman marksmanship. However, there can be drawbacks to technology – it does not replace the “real thing” that every Soldier needs to experience to completely master marksmanship.

JOLON, Calif. – Fire fighting Soldiers with the 614th Engineer Detachment attack a helicopter-fuselage fire during a multi-unit mass casualty exercise at Fort Hunter Liggett’s Tusi Airfield, May 9. The realistic exercise was apart of the Fort’s 16th Annual Warrior Exercise and the scenario encompassed a simulated helicopter crash, which had burst into flames and 32 casualties laid scattered around the helicopter.
