MUSCATATUCK URBAN TRAINING CENTER, Ind. - A search and rescue team of the Army Reserve’s 409th Engineer Company, Windsor, Colorado, searches a rubble site for casualties inside a simulated, bomb-damaged building, during Guardian Response 22, held at Muscatatuck Urban Training Center, April 29. To be successful in the scenario, teams needed to evaluate the chemical threat of the building, locate and asses casualties, determine how to safely remove the casualties from the scene and then evacuate to a chemical decontamination and treatment site operated by the Army Reserve’s 371st Minimal Care Detachment, Twinsburg, Ohio. The specially-designed, multilevel building, was designed to challenge a rescue team’s ability to safely maneuver, search and transport rescue equipment in a complex urban building.
