Command Sergeant Major Tully Culp

Command Sergeant Major, 807th Medical Command (Deployment Support)

Command Sgt. Maj. Tully J. Culp enlisted in the U.S. Army in October 1993, as a member of the Delayed Entry Program. He reported to Basic Combat Training/Advanced Individual Training in January 1994 at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, as a 13B, Cannon Crewmember.  Upon graduation, Culp reported to his first duty station with Alpha Battery, 2nd 82nd Field Artillery, Division Artillery, 1st Cavalry Division, at Fort Hood, Texas.

After completing his Active Duty service requirement, Culp transferred to the U.S. Army Reserve as a Chemical Operations Specialist.  He was assigned to the 388th Chemical Company in Bloomington, Illinois, where he attended 54B - Chemical Operations Specialist Course, Primary Leadership Development Course, and 63B – Light Wheeled Vehicle Repairer Course. Culp promoted to the rank of Sergeant in December 1998.

Culp transferred to the 21st Theater Support Command in June 2000 as a Battalion Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical (NBC) NCO. He deployed to Kaiserslautern, Germany, to support forces deploying to Operation Iraqi Freedom. Upon redeployment, Culp promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant and transferred to the 3d Battalion, 411th Regiment, 85th Training Division, Indianapolis, Indiana, in 2003.

While serving with the 3/411th, Culp supported Operation Enduring Freedom as a Senior Mechanic, Operations NCO, and Security Manager; attended all phases of BNCOC and ANCOC; and promoted to the ranks of Sergeant First Class in 2006 and Master Sergeant in 2008. Culp deployed in 2009 as the Senior Enlisted Advisor for the Joint Robotic Repair Detachment, Afghanistan, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Upon redeployment, Culp transferred to the 1st Battalion, 330th Regiment, Ft. Wayne, Indiana, as an Operations NCO in 2011.  He then transferred to Delta Company, 1/330th, in 2013 and assumed the position of First Sergeant.

Culp was selected for promotion to Sergeant Major in January 2014 and served as the Command Sergeant Major, 378th Military Intelligence Battalion (Battlefield Surveillance Battalion), Ft. Sheridan, Illinois, until the battalion relocated to Fort Dix, N.J., in 2015.  Culp then served as the Command Sergeant Major of the 337th Military Intelligence Battalion, Fort Sheridan, until taking the 330th Medical Brigade Command Sergeant Major position in 2017. Culp deployed in 2020 with the 310th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary), as the Support Operations (SPO) Sergeant Major, and was subsequently selected in 2022 to serve as the unit's Command Sergeant Major. Culp assumed the position of Command Sergeant Major, 807th Medical Command (Deployment Support), in May 2024.

Culp earned a Bachelor of Science, Human Resources Management in 2012, and a Master of Business Administration, Project Management in 2014.  His awards include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (4th Award), Army Commendation Medal (7th Award), Army Achievement Medal (5th Award), Military Outstanding Volunteer Award, and the German Schützenschnur Badge (Gold for Marksmanship). Culp was also inducted into the Ordnance Order of Samuel Sharpe.

Culp resides in Danville, Indiana, with his spouse and children.
