MUSCATATUCK URBAN TRAINING CENTER, Ind. - Members of the Army Reserve 409th Engineer Company, Windsor, Colorado, discuss a course of action for a simulated casualty during urban search and rescue training at Muscatatuck Urban Training Center, April 29. Teams were evaluated on their ability to evaluate a chemical threat in a multistory building, locate and assess simulated casualties, and evacuate the casualties to a chemical decontamination and treatment facility operated by the Army Reserve’s 371st Minimal Care Detachment, Twinsburg, Ohio. The specially-built structure used for the training is one of many unique training environments at Muscatatuck which test first responder and rescue team’s ability to respond to real-world, state-side catastrophes, such as explosions, hurricanes, fires and floods.
