Command Sergeant Major John Stumph entered the Army and completed Basic Combat Training and Infantry AIT at Ft. Benning in 1986. He has held all NCO leadership positions throughout his career. As a Sergeant Major, he served with the 21st Theatre Support Command (Kaisterslaughten, Germany) as the G-3 Force Protection/Anti-Terrorism Sergeant Major. He first served as a Command Sergeant Major with the 1/330 IN of the 84th DIV. Next, he served as the CSM of the 1/329 IN Regt of the Infantry Training Brigade, Ft. Benning, GA. He then served as SGM with the Iraq National Police. He served as the Brigade CSM of the 4th Brigade, 95th DIV before selection as Division Command Sergeant Major of the 102nd DIV(MS) in July 2012. CSM Stumph was then selected as the 95th Division CSM in December 2015. CSM Stumph has been mobilized for Operation Desert Shield/Operation Desert Storm, Operation Noble Eagle, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation Iraqi Freedom.

CSM Stumph has attended PLDC, BNCOC, ANCOC, in addition to numerous military schools to include: 11C Mortar man; 11BC2 Dragon Gunner; 11M Infantry Advanced Course (Bradley Fighting Vehicle); 11H Infantry Advanced Course (TOW Gunner); Infantry Weapons Specialist Course; Master Fitness Trainer Course; Battle Staff Course; Airborne; Air Assault; and Drill Sergeant School. Other military schooling includes: Army Pre-Commission Course; First Sergeant Course; Battalion Intelligence and Operations Sergeant Course; Retention Non-Commissioned Officer Course; Cadre Training Course; Combat Lifesaver Course; Long Range Surveillance Leaders Course; Resource Management Introductory Course; Force Protection and various Anti-Terrorism Schools; Total Army Instructor Training Course; Small Group Instructor Course; Transition Team Course; and Commanders Safety Course. He is a graduate of the United States Army Sergeant Major Academy Class # 51 and the Command Sergeant Major Course. He has attended the National Defense University completing the RC-National Security Course and Senior Enlisted Joint Professional Military Education Course. He also completed the Brigade Pre-Command Course and the Command Sergeant Major Development Program Course; Nominative CSM Force Management Course; Nominative CSM Legal Course, and SSD 5.

Significant awards and accomplishments include: Bronze Star Medal; Meritorious Service Medal(1OLC); Army Commendation Medal with “V” device and (2 OLC); Army Achievement Medal (19 OLC); Army Good Conduct Medal; Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal (8 OLC); National Defense Service Medal with Bronze Star; Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; Iraq Campaign Medal w/ 2 Campaign Stars; Armed Forces Reserve Medal w/ M Device, Silver Hourglass and Numeral 4; Non-Commissioned Officer Development Ribbon with Numeral 4; Army Service Ribbon; Army Overseas Service; Army Reserve Components Overseas Training Ribbon; Army Superior Unit Award; Combat Infantryman Badge; Expert Infantryman Badge; Parachutist Badge; Air Assault Badge; Drill Sergeant Identification Badge; Drivers Badge-Wheeled; Expert Qualification Badge M-16, M-9, M-4, Mortar, Dragon Gunner (Missile), M203, Grenade; German Armed Forces Badge of Military Proficiency- Gold Award; and Order of Saint Maurice-Centurion.

CSM Stumph holds a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Education and a Master of Science in Administration from Purdue University. He also earned a Master of Arts in Management (with Honors) from Webster University. CSM Stumph is married to Cindy; together they have four children, five grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
