Keeping Soldiers in the Fight
U.S. Army Spc. Brooks W. Brunde, combat medic specialist, 321st Sustainment Brigade, injects intravenous fluid into a Soldier roleplaying as a patient suffering from dehydration during Combat Staff Training Exercise 17-02 Aug. 16, 2017, in Ft. McCoy, Wis. The 321st and its higher command, the 143d Sustainment Command (Expeditionary), coordinated efforts to construct and operate a battalion aid station capable of treating minor wounds and illnesses commonly inflicted in the field. Brunde and his team’s efforts kept many Soldiers in the fight with effective and immediate treatment that minimized the need of transporting lightly wounded and sick troops to clinics and hospitals in the rear.
