New York City draftee Soldiers made history as the Lost Battalion in October 1918

HOBOKEN, N.J. - Soldiers from the 308th Infantry Regiment of the 77th Division, a unit made uip of New York City draftees, who had been part of the "Lost Battalion" in October 1918 in Hoboken, New Jersey on April 29, 1919 after returning from France. 540 members of the unit were trapped behind German lines from October 2 to October 8. 1918 and 170 died.
