Ashley Hayes, a Tough Mudder competitor, participated in the Army Fitness Challenge after she completed the Central Florida Tough Mudder in Palm Bay, Fla., Nov. 7. For the fitness challenge, Hayes had to complete several tasks, which included pushing a weighted sleigh, three pullups, low crawling, 10 declined pushups and then pulling the weighted sleigh back to the start line.

A participant pushes a sled while racing through the Army Reserve Fitness Challenge during day one of the 2015 Tough Mudder at Palm Bay Fla., Nov. 8. A team of drill sergeants was present motivating and critiquing the participants as they took on the challenge. The drill sergeants guaranteed that competitors got a feel of how it’s like working under stress and urgency by yelling commands and creating a stressful environment while ensuring the competitors navigated the course using proper Army technique. The timed challenge was comprised of five Army themed exercises in which volunteers competed for prizes and spots on the daily leaderboard.
