643rd Regional Support command executes change of command ceremony during June battle assembly

By Sgt. Megan Fischer 367th Mobile Public Affairs Detachment

The 643rd Regional Support Group (RSG) held a change of command ceremony June 11, 2022. The ceremony was presided over by Brig. Gen. Justin M. Swanson, commander, 310th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary).

Col. Steven P. Ressler relinquished his command to Col. Daniel J. Keenaghan Jr. by the passing of the colors. The passing of the  colors symbolizes the relinquishment of command by the outgoing commander and the assumption of command for the incoming commander.

After a two-year tenure commanding the 643rd RSG, Ressler led nearly 2,000 troops in three battalions supporting multiple missions to include Guardian Response Exercise in 2021, which he led the preparation for stateside emergencies for all three U.S. Army components.

Keenaghan Jr. assumed command of the 643rd RSG following his assignment as the chief of staff under the 352nd Civil Affairs Command. His duties included staffing, training and deploying civil affairs teams for military operations to both U.S. Central Command and U.S. Africa Command.
