WICHITA, Kan. –
U.S. Army Reserve command teams and staff from the 647th Regional Support Group and its subordinate units gathered March 2, 2019, in Wichita, Kan., to brief the 416th Theater Engineer Command leadership on their readiness and training plans for 2019 and 2020.
The 647th RSG is a brigade-level command newly established at Wichita's 1st Lt. Lanny J. Wallace Army Reserve Center.
US Army doctrine defines a regional support group as a deployable headquarters that manages base camps or base clusters with a population of 6,000 or more personnel and requires services beyond basic life support.
The 647th RSG is the only unit of its kind within the 416th Theater Engineer Command, and it will soon command and control two Army Reserve engineer battalions.
