Some Heroes Wear Quilts: Army Reserve Soldier recognized by Quilts of Valor during International Quilting Festival
Col. Tina L. Kirkpatrick (left), commander, commander, 475th Quartermaster Group, expresses her gratitude to members of Quilts of Valor during the International Quilting Festival in Houston Nov. 3, 2022. Kirkpatrick was invited to the festival by senior leaders of Quilts of Valor so they could present a custom quilt designed by Leo McClure, one of more than 10,000 Quilts of Valor members. Kirkpatrick, who also serves as the suicide prevention program manager for the 75th Innovation Command, plans to collaborate with Quilts of Valor, a national organization that has made more than 300,000 quilts designed specifically for veterans in honor of their service and sacrifice, to integrate quilting as a form of art therapy to enhance Soldier resiliency.
