Guardian Response 21
Mock civilian casualties are scanned for radiation by crewmembers of the 4th Combat Aviation Brigade, Ft. Carson, Col., before boarding a CH-47 Chinook helicopter at Muscatatuck Urban Training Center May 1. The training is part of Guardian Response 21, a multi-component Homeland Emergency Response Enterprise run by the Army Reserve’s 78th Training Division. Role-players in the exercise represent displaced US citizens who experience a worst-case scenario nuclear event in a large U.S. city. “It is extremely critical to do exercises where we interact with role-players and civilian agencies,” said Capt. Robert Williams, 4th CAB. “It’s important that in the event we to come to a real-world disaster scenario, we have an understanding of what it may look like when we arrive.” (U.S Army photo by Staff Sgt.
