U.S. Army Reserve Col. Scott DeJesse, program director for the 38G / 6V Heritage and Preservation branch, U.S. Army Civil Affairs and Psychological Operations Command (Airborne), speaks about tangible and intangible cultural heritage during virtual pre-deployment training for Soldiers from the 415th Civil Affairs Battalion, Kalamazoo, Mich. The unit is preparing to deploy to Eastern Europe in support of Atlantic Resolve later this spring and spent several days attending training classes given by subject matter experts affiliated with USACAPOC(A) 38G Functional Specialty Teams, 23 – 24 March, 2021. Soldiers received overview training on a range of subjects including the Hague Convention, identification of trafficked objects, trust issues within cultural heritage and how artifact restoration can lead to culture loss.
