Fort McCoy Soldiers and Sparta Chamber of Commerce Honor Walter Haag
Soldiers from the 181st Multi-Training Brigade, gathered for a brief ceremony with members of the Sparta Area Chamber of Commerce and other organizations to pay tribute to Retired Col. Walter Haag, for his 37 years of service to the U.S. Army Reserve, on December 17, 2020, at Fort McCoy, Wis. Haag suffers from Alzheimer's Disease, and wife Evelyn Haag, who accompanied him at the event, said on his behalf that they were both emotional and deeply appreciative that Soldiers and local organizations took time to honor his service. Haag served in the then 88th Regional Readiness Command at Fort Snelling, Minn., from approximately 2001 to 2005.
