On Aug. 15, 1945, Japan surrendered unconditionally to the Allies, effectively ending World War II. On Sept. 2, 1945, Japan's formal surrender took place aboard a U.S. Navy ship in Tokyo Bay. America's Army Reserve honors and remembers the service and sacrifice of the U.S. Army Soldiers who served in WWII. Operations in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater demonstrated the U.S. Army's capacity to fight anywhere, anytime in the most adverse conditions to achieve victory.
