Learning and lethal: Army Reserve Soldiers shoot gunnery at Operation Cold Steel III
U.S. Army Reserve 1st Lt. Christian Lewis, commander of the 329th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion Headquarters and Headquarters Company, discusses live-fire gunnery operations with 1st Lt. Jacob Reed, a mounted gunnery range operations officer, during Operation Cold Steel III at Fort Hunter Liggett, Calif. on February 6, 2019. Officers continuously watch over training to identify and mitigate risks while ensuring safety measures are being followed. Operation Cold Steel III trains and qualifies Army Reserve Soldiers on M2 .50 caliber machine guns, M19 40 mm automatic grenade launchers and M240 7.62 mm machine guns weapons systems in ground and mounted military vehicles, in order to provide lethal and combat ready units ready to deploy anywhere in the world.
