Active component brigade commanders learn Army Reserve processes during multi-compo orientation
Col. Shawn Klawunder, Chief of Staff, First Army, discusses First Army’s partnership with the 85th Support Command’s and their role in supporting First Army through the utilization of Reserve Component Soldiers. Klawunder further shared how the newly assigned active component leaders, assigned to First Army, can utilize the partnership of Reserve Soldiers to effectively maintain mission readiness. Leaders from the 85th SPT CMD and First Army met during a New Command Teams Orientation brief on Oct. 13-14, 2018 at the command headquarters in Arlington Heights, Illinois. The briefing provided insight to active component leaders, who have Army Reserve battalions assigned to them, to understand reserve processes and systems within the multi-component partnership between the 85th SPT CMD and First Army. The 85th SPT CMD’s (logistical and training support) battalions, located across the continental United States, provide training to Reserve and Guard forces ahead of mobilizations and deployments world-wide.
