Command Sgt. Maj. Gregory S. McNeill, outgoing command sergeant major of the First Recruiting Brigade, shows gratitude to Sgt. Maj. (Ret.) Raymond Moran, affectionately known as the "Old Soldier," during McNeill's farewell ceremony on Fort Meade, Maryland, March 9, 2018. Moran had been a friend and mentor to McNeill and served as the recruiting brigade's sergeant major before retiring. Moran devoted 65 years of total service as an enlisted Soldier and as a Department of the Army civilian in the U.S. Army and Army Reserve.
