The Old Soldier
An oversized Combat Infantry Badge (CIB) hangs on the wall beneath a genuine M1 rifle in the basement of Sgt. Maj. (Ret.) Raymond Moran, affectionately known as the "Old Soldier," who lives in Odenton, Maryland. Moran earned the CIB in the Korean War. The rifle was a Veterans Day gift from his son. Moran spent 65 years both in the U.S. Army and U.S. Army Reserve as an enlisted Soldier and as a Department of the Army civilian, serving in Korea, Vietnam, Japan, Cambodia and during Desert Storm.
