WW I move of 77th Division of New York draftees, was not so secret in April 1918
In this video from a 1918 silent movie on the National Archives website, Soldiers of the 28th Divison's 1st Battalion 112th Infantry Regiment get acquainted with the British Lee-Enfield rifle in May 1918 after turning in their American-issued Springfield rifles. The Soldiers of the 77th Divison, most of whom were draftees from New York City, also swapped their American for British rifles as they began training with British Army instructors.
