A good cause on hallowed ground
Scores of runners, walkers and rollers take the first steps in a 10K route around Blue Jacket Park in Orlando April 14, 2018, during the 9th Annual Wounded Warfighter Lone Sailor 5K/10K race. More than 600 people signed up to race at the park while approximately 500 registered for the virtual race. Hosted by the Central Florida Navy League, the race generated $54,000 in donations dedicated to the Navy League’s school scholarship fund the Camaraderie Foundation’s veteran counseling programs. The race’s route resides on what was once the parade grounds of Recruit Training Center Orlando. More than 650,000 men and women graduated from Navy boot camp at RTC Orlando from 1968-94.
