ARMEDCOM: changing lives; building readiness
Maj. Matthew Morris, a dentist, and Spc. Chatel Smith, a dental specialist, assigned to 7226th Medical Support Unit located in Fort Jackson, South Carolina, provides dental care for El Cenizo Mayor, Raul L. Reyes, at El Cenizo community center. Morris and Smith are two of approximately 125 U.S. Army Reserve Soldiers who are working in partnership with the Texas A&M Colonias program to provide medical care to Webb County’s under-served Colonias population. Services provided by Army Reserve personnel are done through the Department of Defense’s Innovative Readiness Training, a civil-military program that builds mutually beneficial partnerships between U.S. communities and the DoD. The missions selected meet training & readiness requirements for Army Reserve service members while integrating them as a joint and whole-of-society team to serve our American citizens.
