New Jersey remembers 100th anniversary of Camp Dix, World War I
New Jersey Lieutenant Governor and Secretary of State Kim Guadagno places her hand over her heart during the playing of Taps after she placed a memorial wreath with Air Force Brig. Gen. Michael L. Cunniff, adjutant general of New Jersey, to commemorate the 100th anniversaries of the creation of Camp Dix and America’s entry into World War I during a centennial commemoration April 6 at the Trenton War Memorial in New Jersey. The event was hosted by the New Jersey Historical Commission to honor the contributions of the nearly 140,000 New Jerseyans who served during the First World War, many of whom attended basic combat training at the newly formed Camp Dix.
